Axis allowing for control of the rudder, located on the tail at the back of an airplane. Activating the rudder flap to the left allows the plane to make a shallow turn (yaw) to the left, while activating it to the right results in a shallow turn to the right. On a standard joystick with 4 axes, this control is carried out either by twisting the handle, or sometimes using progressive sliders. This control on flight-sticks such as the HOTAS can be carried out with 1 or 2 types of control at a time (dual rudder): with a rudder pedal set system for foot control and/or by twisting the handle and/or using the toggle switch located on the throttle.
