London, April 24, 2015

Nissan and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe are pleased to announce the return of the NISMO PlayStation® GT Academy, the “virtual-to-real” competition, for its seventh edition. Online qualifiers will be open from April 21 through June 16 in the PlayStation® game Gran Turismo® 6, available on PlayStation®3.

The ultimate prize: a NISMO Athlete spot
Since its creation in 2008, the GT Academy has attracted millions of participants worldwide. In this competition, gamers and motor sports fans square off against one another for a chance to win a NISMO Athlete spot, with the top racers wearing the Nissan colors as part of the NISMO team.

The best of these racers will then take part in one of the world’s most advanced development programs. The goal of this intensive training is to prepare for the ultimate prize: a racing season in the famous Blancpain Endurance Series, behind the wheel of a 550-horsepower Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.

From gamers to professional racers!
The high level of this “virtual-to-real” competition has been firmly established: Jann Mardenborough (Wales), winner of the GT Academy’s fourth edition in 2011, ascended to the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013. Lucas Ordóñez (Spain), the winner of the first GT Academy competition, now competes in the Super GT500, the Japanese championship. Wolfgang Reip (Belgium), the 2012 GT Academy winner, also took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014, in the incredible ZEOD RC Garage 56.
